Biography

Kearie Daniel is a senior non-profit leader, communications strategist, and community advocate with a rich background that blends over 20 years of strategic initiative leadership across healthcare, the non-profit sector, and child welfare. Kearie’s expertise lies in catalyzing systemic change, particularly in addressing Anti-Black racism within systems and championing the health and well-being of Black women.

With advanced degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Mass Communications, Kearie wields a deep understanding of the transformative power of brand identity and key messaging, skills that have been pivotal in her career. Her role as the co-founder and inaugural CEO/Executive Director of Parents of Black Children has seen her revolutionize the support system for Black parents within the education sector. Under her leadership, the organization grew rapidly becoming one of the most impactful education non-profits in Ontario. Her understanding of systemic structures and change management; led to the introduction of education systems navigators- who act as advocates standing beside parents as they navigate the education system, leading to transformational change within Ontario’s education system. Kearie’s innovative approach has also led to the creation of the Omo Africentric Campus, Canada’s first Africentric virtual campus, offering a ground-breaking reimagining of educational spaces and the use of electronic platforms for Black children and families.

In her role as the founder and Executive Director of the Black Women’s Institute for Health, Daniel has further solidified her status as a trailblazer in the health sector. She spearheaded Canada’s first Vital Signs Survey for Black women, an initiative that has set a precedent for how health disparities are understood and addressed within the community. This work underscores her commitment to innovation and her ability to lead significant health-focused initiatives that pave the way for systemic improvements.

Beyond her organizational achievements, Kearie has established herself as a thought leader in race, motherhood, and education. Starting her career in journalism with NBC News’ London Bureau, she has since become a powerful voice in these arenas, founding Woke Mommy Chatter in 2016—a podcast and blog dedicated to amplifying the experiences of Black motherhood. Her insightful contributions on race, equity, and Black parenting have enriched discussions in publications such as Today’s Parent, CBC Parent, Flare, and Chatelaine. Kearie Daniel’s comprehensive expertise in parent engagement, the future of education, non-profit and strategic leadership, anti-racist parenting, Black motherhood, inclusive communications, and equity in child welfare underlines her as a dynamic, transformative leader committed to fostering inclusive, equitable communities.
